RESIDENT OF EL SOBRANTE

Al Granzella passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by his four girls, Charlotte, Kimmie, Gina and Jacquelyn. Al was a patriotic man. He was born in North Richmond, CA, graduated from Richmond High, and quickly joined the United States Army. After bravely serving in the Korean War, he returned home and met Charlotte, the love of his life, to whom he remained married for 57 years.

Al was a business man and mechanic, who owned and operated "Checker Tune Up" in El Cerrito for 50 years. His other passion was wine and farming; he spent over 25 years working at his vineyard, the Granzella-Parodi Vineyards, in Lake County, CA.

He loved his second home in Clearlake Oaks, where he spent many of his summers with family and close friends, drinking, singing, dancing, teasing and laughing. Al will be remembered for his sense of humor and his jokes. He was always smiling and laughing, which infected everyone around him.

Al is survived by his devoted wife, Charlotte, daughter Kimberly, son Dino and granddaughters, Gina and Jacquelyn Schober.

Friends and family are invited to a visitation on Thurs., Jan. 19, 4pm, rosary at 7pm, at Holy Angels/St Joseph Cemetery, 2540 Church Ln., San Pablo. Funeral service to follow on Fri, Jan 20, 11am, at St. John the Baptist Church, 11150 San Pablo Ave., El Cerrito.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made in memory of Albert to the Salesian High School Scholarship Fund, 2851 Salesian Ave, Richmond, CA 94804.
