Eugene Edward Bogan of Grand Forks, ND passed away on January 1, 2012. Eugene was 92.

Born on November 1, 1919 to Mary (Treacy) and James Bogan in Ardoch ND. He was the second youngest of thirteen children. He lived on a farm near there until 1926 when the farmhouse was destroyed by fire.

The family moved to Grand Forks, ND and remained there until April of 1941. Eugene graduated from Grand Forks High School in 1938. He was active in scholastic and athletics and participated on many high school sports teams; although his passion was for basketball. Eugene then attended and graduated from the University of ND in 1942 after several successful basketball seasons including winning the State Championship in 1941.

He then enlisted in the United States Air Corps and became a certified aircraft mechanic. He also served in active duty until his honorable discharge as Master Sergeant on October 20, 1945. He then worked in the aviation private sector between 1942 to 1952 in several states, then relocated to be with his mother in San Francisco till her passing in 1952.

In March of 1956 he began working for Ohio Medical Group in San Leandro, CA. until his retirement in 1983 after 38 years of dedicated service. On February 14, 1981 Eugene was united with his wife, Rita Grace. They lived in Albany CA. until the passing of Rita in 2005.The majority of his retirement years involved golf, cooking and relaxing at home until illness prevented such activities. Eugene then relocated to Antioch, CA, where he resided with local family members until his health required full time attention beginning in late 2010.

Eugene was preceded by the deaths of the following brothers and sisters: Tim, Pat, Tracey, Ralph, Edward, Mary, Delphine, Annnie and Ellen. Eugene is survived by his brother Michael in AZ. with nieces and nephews in several states.

After a small ceremony, Eugene was buried at the Saint Joseph’s Cemetery in San Pablo, CA, where he is now reunited with his wife Rita Grace.
