Arlene Surges passed away on Thursday, December 15th. Her last days were spent with her loving and devoted husband, John Surges, by her side along with her sister Marlene and many family members whose lives she touched with her caring, generous, fun and loving spirit.

Arlene was born on October 18th, 1941, to the late Ritchie and Louise DiMaggio. She was raised in Crockett, CA, with her twin sister, Marlene, and two older brothers, Vince and Babe, who preceded her in death. She graduated from John Swett High School in 1959. Arlene began working for New York Life at the age of 17 and retired after 40 years of dedicated service. She married John on September 16, 1961, and moved to Pinole in 1968. Arlene was a faithful member of St. Joseph Church in Pinole. She was also a member of St. Mary's College Women's Guild, a loyal 49er fan, a Giants fan, and enjoyed traveling, gardening, and spending time with family.

Arlene is survived by her husband John, sister and brother-in-law Marlene and Jim Hill, sister-in-law Marilyn Crist (Dale), nieces and nephews Cheryl Hill (Dean), Gary Hill, Jim Hill, Bryan Hill (Kristy), Dana Fleenor (Charlie), Lisa Munn (Jim), Lori Young (Lonnie), Michelle Carleton (Tim), Rick DiMaggio (Mary), and DiMaggio, DeCarlo, Surges, Broderick, and Blotzer families.

Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service in honor of Arlene on Friday, December 23rd, 11:30am, at St. Joseph Church, 837 Tennent Ave., Pinole, CA 94564. Donations in memory of Arlene can be sent to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (www.pancan.org).
