RESIDENT OF SAN LEANDRO

Kathleen passed away in Brentwood at the age of 91. She was born in Cunnamulla, Queensland Australia. She is survived by her loving husband Robert A. Blackburn, her daughter Kerrie Anne Faria and her husband Greg and a nephew Joshua John Hale whom lives in Australia; grandson Jason Alan Faria; great-grandchildren Ysabella Natalia and Sydney Theresa Faria. Also survived by her siblings Joe Brennan, Patrick Brennan, John Brennan and his wife Anita. She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters Peggy Cooper, Theresa Murphy and Mary Coppleman.

Kathleen and Robert enjoyed over 68 years of marriage after Bob was diverted while in route to the Philippines to Australia when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor. She was celebrated as one of the first war brides to come through the Golden Gate. Kay worked in the IBM Section of Lucky Stores for over 25 years making many life long friendships retiring in 1986. Vacationing with her family, especially in Reno and Lake Tahoe were her favorite leisure activities. After a ten year return to Australia, Kay & Bob came back to the states in 2004 to live out their lives enjoying their grandson and great-grandchildren.

Funeral Service will be Friday, Dec. 16, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Angels Sorensen Chapel followed by the burial at Sacramento National Cemetery in Dixon CA. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Salvation Army.

Our deepest sympathy to the family of Mrs. Blackburn. I think she was a former neighbor of my family in the early to mid 80's.
She was a wonderful person and even after they moved we spoke of her fondly.
My she rest in eternal peace
