Loretta Marie Sloop, formerly Gonsalves, of Hayward passed away peacefully on Monday, November 28, 2011 at Washington Hospital in Fremont. Loretta was born in Oakland on September 1, 1933 and was raised in Castro Valley. She and her husband owned and worked at several donut shops in and around Hayward. Loretta was devoted to her family, especially her sons and grandsons, and also enjoyed her friends, pets, and flowers. She is preceded in death by two sons, Gary and Byron, and her husband Richard. Loretta is survived by son Timothy and his fiancée Tess, of Alameda, and son Richard and daughter-in-law Rebecca, of Hayward, and three grandsons, Richard, Daniel, and Jeremy.
Family and friends are invited to attend a viewing on Monday, December 5, 2011 at 6:00pm at Holy Angels Sorensen Chapel, 1140 B Street, Hayward. A service will be held on Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at 11:00am at Holy Angels Sorensen Chapel. From there, a procession will proceed to Golden Gate National Cemetery in San Bruno for a burial service at 1:00pm. A reception will follow at the American Legion Hall, 1105 Bancroft Street, San Leandro at 3:00pm on Tuesday the 6th. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
