RESIDENT OF SAN FRANCISCO

"Eddie Shakes"

A proud native of San Francisco's Eureka Valley, Eddie was raised by his father Frank. Eddie's first love was live Jazz and Swing music. After serving in the Army, Eddie enjoyed working at the Schiltz Brewery until it closed in 1978. Then he started his MUNI career as a custodian at various stations, where he enjoyed socializing with the station agents and tourists. He always enjoyed a good meal and he broke a lot of bread at Original Joe's and at The Swedish Deli on Upper Market.

Upon retirement Eddie continued walking his 5 miles a day to Ocean Beach and along Aquatic Park to the Embarcadero. He found a new "job" at the San Francisco Senior Center where he regularly had lunch and participated in several activities. He leaves behind his loving sister Joan Bloedorn and Goddaughter Stephanie Ugrin, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Frank and Julia (Perry) Valadao, and his sister Mildred Rego. His loved ones are planning a Memorial for the spring time.

Please consider donating to the San Francisco Senior Center in Eddie's honor. San Francisco Senior Center Development Office, 890 Beach Street, San Francisco, CA 94109
