RESIDENT OF HAYWARD
Beloved husband, father and grandfather, Mike Silva joined his Lord and Savior on the morning of Sunday, October 30, 2011. Mike was born in Oakland, California in April of 1939. Mike grew up in Oakland and eventually moved to Hayward, where he graduated from Hayward High School in 1957. He was stationed with the United States Army in Korea. Later, in 1960, Mike was stationed at Camp Hanford in Richland, Washington, where he met and married the love of his life, Elaine. After 33 years of service with PG&E, Mike retired as an underground gas crew foreman in 1993. He was a strong union man and was actively involved with the IBEW - Local 1245.
Mike is survived by his wife of 50 years, Elaine; his two sons, Christopher and his wife Terri of Manteca, CA; Daniel and his wife Cris of Dublin, CA; his three grandchildren, who he dearly loved, Nicole, Robert and Jake Silva; and his brother Richard of Harbor City, CA. Mike was preceded in death by his father, Albert; mother Lila and brother Patrick. Mike was loved by many. He liked to joke and tease. He will always be remembered for his big voice and hearty laugh. Most of all, Mike truly loved and cherished being with his friends and family. We will all miss him very much.
Friends and family are invited to the visitation on Monday, November 7, 2011 at St. Joachim's Catholic Church from 5:00 pm - 8:30 pm., located at 21250 Hesperian Blvd., Hayward, CA. Funeral Services will be held at St. Joachim's on Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at 12:00 pm. Burial to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 1051 Harder Rd., Hayward, CA 94542.
