Joseph Allen Millard of Castro Valley passed away on Monday October 24, 2011. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Dena Marie Millard and his daughters Desiree Ford, Jeannine Millard and Elena Millard-Zavala. He was loved greatly by his three grandchildren, Aaron Ford, Lily Zavala and Jenna Churchill.
He was a life long resident of Castro Valley. Joe worked for Cummins West for 37+ years, starting out as an apprentice technician in 1974 and working his way up to lead technician while also holding the shop steward position for many years. He cared about those guys like they were his family. Joe grew up a cowboy spending several years in his youth riding rodeos until he met the love of his life Dena and they started their family together. His passion besides his family was his career; he loved being a mechanic, following in his father's footsteps. And of course he loved the Oakland Raiders. He was a no nonsense kind of guy but always the practical joker. He was an amazing man and a devoted husband and poppa with a wonderful sense of humor that will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
