George Lawrence Santos passed away on Sunday, October 2, 2011 after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 82. Devoted husband of 60 years to Cecelia. Beloved father of Jeff Santos and his wife Laurie of San Leandro, Dave Santos of San Leandro, Rick Santos and his wife Kelly of Brentwood and Joe Nowocinsk of Trubuco Canyon. Father-in-law of Janice Santos of Manteca. He is preceded in death by his son Steve of Manteca. Beloved grandfather of Jennifer, Jason, Melissa, Kyle, Nick and Jeffrey. Great-grandfather of Hannah, Drew, Ashley, Allison and Carson.
George was born in San Leandro and was a life long resident of the area. George proudly served in the United States Army. George was the owner of S & S Automotive with his family. He built up a successful machine shop known throughout the racing community. He worked at the shop until just before his death. George had a life long love of cars and was active in Drag & Sprint Car racing. His knowledge of engines will be missed by all that consulted him.
Friends and family are invited to a service for George at Holy Angels Funeral & Cremation Center, 1051 Harder Road in Hayward on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice or the American Cancer Society.
