AUGUST 14, 1936 - SEPTEMBER 10, 2011

Maria Da Graca Ferreira passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on the evening of September 10, 2011. She was born in Madeira, Portugal on August 14, 1936.

She is survived by her mother Elisa Goncalves of Hayward, her four children, Maria Reetz of Discovery Bay, Connie Jones of Sacramento, Manuel Ferreira of Hayward, and Phyllis Peregrino of San Ramon. Her four brothers, Manuel Goncalves of Hayward, Antonio Goncalves of Castro Valley, John Goncalves of Hayward, and Al Goncalves of San Ramon. Her two sisters, Phyllis Escobar of Hayward, Linda Herrera of Vancouver, Washington and her grandchildren, her great grandchild, her many cousins and friends. She is proceeded in death by her father Antonio Goncalves of Hayward.

Maria was passionate about cooking Portuguese meals for her family. She really enjoyed being a part of the Portuguese community in Hayward and attending the fiestas where she loved being near her Portuguese culture. She loved gardening and raising her beautiful orchids. She proudly retired from working many years as a micro film tech for the County of Alameda where she worked with people that she loved and considered family.

Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation at the Holy Angels Funeral & Cremation Center, 1051Harder Road, Hayward on Tuesday, September 20th starting at 5:00 pm to 8:30 pm–Vigil at 7:00 pm. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 21st at 10:30 am at All Saints Church, 22824 2nd Street, Hayward. Burial will follow at the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 1051 Harder Road, Hayward.
