Francesco "Francis" Serrone Sr. passed away on Saturday, August 27, 2011 at Washington Hospital in Fremont, California after struggling with severe heart failure for years. He influenced many lives over his 81 years in the most caring, compassionate, loving way anyone could ever ask for. He was truly "heaven sent". Francis was a loving and spiritual man who was a devoted Catholic. He believed in Jesus Christ and everlasting life with everything in him. He shared all he knew with everyone through his caring, compassion, generosity and love. He will always be loved, missed and forever remembered.

Francis was born on August 7, 1930 in Giovinazzo (Bari) Italy to Natale & Cristina Serrone, whom both passed away when Francis was a young child. Francis soon after left Italy as a young adult/teen & migrated to the United States where he settled in New York, NY. He became an official citizen of the United States on July 19, 1954 in California. Francesco enlisted in the US Army on September 11, 1951 but not before he met Soccoro "Cora" Serrone in New York, NY; they married on December 1, 1951 in Brooklyn NY. With this union they conceived 2 sons; the 1st son, Francesco Serrone Jr. was born in 1952 in New York, NY while Francis was still serving active duty overseas. Francis was honorably discharged on January 10, 1954 from the US Army and awarded 2 medals! The Serrone family relocated to California and soon after in 1962 Anthony "Tony" Serrone was born. Francis was a loving, providing, thoughtful husband and father. After serving in the US Army Francis became a machinist and worked for National Can for over 2 years up until a severe work injury caused his permanent disability/retirement. Francesco's wife Cora and son Francesco Jr. preceded him in death; he is survived by his son Anthony "Tony" Serrone of Tracy, California, and 3 grandchildren, Anthony Serrone Jr. of San Francisco and Danielle and Skyler Serrone of Tracy, California. His brother Dominic Serrone of Brooklyn, NY and sister Lena Serrone of Staten Island, NY and numerous family/friends throughout the US and Italy.

Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service on Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at 11:30am at Holy Angels Funeral Center, 1051 Harder Road, Hayward burial to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
