Miguel F. Bargas

APRIL 18, 1929 - SEPTEMBER 2, 2011

RESIDENT OF SAN LEANDRO

Miguel Bargas passed away peacefully surrounded by his family in his home, where he was an example of courage, faith and unconditional love for his family and friends. Miguel was born and raised in Progreso, Yucatan, MX. After High School, he went to study medicine at Mexico City's Military Medical College, but his passion was always baseball. He played on a professional Mexican league then Miguel's career landed him in Lubbock, TX, where he had been drafted into AA. There, his pitching was perfected with the coaching skills of Hall of Famer Dizzy Dean and brother Paul, "Daffy" Dean. Lefty, Miguel "Chueco" Bargas' had a mean curve ball! An elbow injury cut his baseball career short. A new chapter of Miguel's life began in Oakland, California where he worked for Sherwin Williams Company in Emeryville for 34 years and then retired. Miguel enjoyed life to the fullest. He was an avid tennis player, huge Oakland A's fan, loved to travel and was proud of designing and building his home in Progreso where he vacationed every year. Miguel was the life of the party wherever he went with his humor and great personality.

Miguel is survived by his wife of 52 years, Rosa Maria, his children, Rosemary Medeiros (Joey), Miguel Bargas Jr. (Cindy), Rene Bargas (Maricela), Carmen Galli. Grandchildren, Kristin (Anthony), Joseph (Amy), Danelle, Connor, Giana, Miguel, David, Nikki, Erika (CJ), Abel, Marcela, Tony, Jessica and their dad, Paul. The family wishes to give special thanks to Rosario "Chayito" Arreguin, who was a wonderful caretaker and loving friend.
